Becky studied both Chinese Medicine and the relevant biomedical sciences for three and a half years, gaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Acupuncture from Kingston University, taught through The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
Since qualifying in 2007, Becky has gained valuable experience working at a number of different clinics and also through a year’s voluntary work at Dorothy House Hospice, in Bradford-On-Avon. Becky is a member of The British Acupuncture Council, the main regulatory body for acupuncturists in the UK. Acupuncturists registered with the British Acupuncture Council follow stringent standards of hygiene, use only sterile, disposable needles and are required to update their skills by following a programme of continuing professional development.
Becky adopts a comprehensive, holistic and modern approach to healthcare based on principles of Chinese Medicine that have been passed down through generations. Acupuncture is evolving all the time to incorporate modern medical knowledge and is increasingly recognised as an effective form of treatment for a wide range of health issues including allergies; ante- and post-natal care; asthma; depression and anxiety; digestive problems; headaches; muscular or joint pains and injuries; infertility (male and female); insomnia; stress and tiredness.
The first appointment normally lasts 1-1.5 hours. Information will be gathered in order to make a diagnosis and plan treatment. This includes taking pulses on both sides of your wrist, and looking at your tongue. Subsequent appointments take around 45 minutes. Treatment is usually weekly to begin with. Many people see an improvement in their condition after 6-8 treatments and the frequency of visits is then gradually reduced. You may then opt to have maintenance treatments at intervals which suit you.
Becky has been working together with Pandora Pound and the Natural Health Clinic to create Frome Affordable Acupuncture, a new way of offering acupuncture which will make regular treatment more accessible to the local community.
