Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork which uses the pressure of palms and fingertips along energy channels called "meridians" to balance the body's energy system and promote health and emotional well being.
The treatment is done through clothing with the patient lying on a futon on the floor.
Shiatsu is based on the same principles as acupuncture and uses the same pressure points and ways of diagnosis. Because it is a hands-on treatment it also includes deep nurturing palm pressure, stretches, rotations and general loosening. It is always calming and invigorating.
Shiatsu treats the whole person, strengthening your entire system and thus preventing your problems from recurring.
Conditions that respond well to Shiatsu include:
- Stress
- Fatigue
- Back pain, neck and shoulder tension
- General aches in muscles and joints
- Digestive problems, IBS
- Headaches
- Bad circulation, high or low blood pressure
- Depression, feeling low
Shiatsu is often experienced as a great help when going through a difficult time .
